The Don Camillo Restaurant was founded in
1985 by Camillo and Giovanni Guarneri as a small family-run restaurant. Its
continuous evolution has led it to be one of the most appreciated and
consistent Sicilian restaurants of quality. Located in Via delle Maestranze,
one of the most beautiful streets of Ortigia, the historical center of Syracuse;
the room are derived from the remains of a religious building which collapsed in
the earthquake of 1693. The wonderful Catalan arches are an added value to the
reception of the restaurant. The cuisine which has always been led by Giovanni
Guarneri, looks ahead but remains closely tied to the territory and to the
traditions of Sicilianity.
The highly professional staff strives to
ensure a serious, attentive and consistant service, like the quality of the
restaurant, a landmark among the restaurants in Syracuse and Sicily.
Our Wine Cellar
Nestled between the Catalane arches of the
historical restaurant of Ortigia, Don Camillo's cellar is certainly one of the
strong points of the restaurant, with about 1000 regional, national and
international labels and the qualified staff , featuring three AIS professional
sommeliers and a second level Ais sommelier.
The winery and service management is
handled by Sommelier Enzo Amoruso, assisted by Maitre Sommelier Roberto Giudice
and by Chef Sommelier Giovanni Guarneri.
The wine list does not only have famous
wines, but it also does research on small realities that use native varieties
from the various regions and has an eye for Biodynamic wines.
